She returned to school at UNC-G and completed a Bachelor's of Science Degree with a major in Accounting and a minor inc Mathematics. She returned to college to attend Wake Forest School of Law graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1997. During her law school years Kathryn volunteered with VITA tax assistance program, was a summer intern with the Guilford County District Attorney's office, and was a mentor for a first year student through Women in Law. In her third year of law school she appeared in court for indigent people who had filed for protection in domestic violence court and represented elderly clients in various parts of court proceedings. After passing the Bar, she was sworn in to State and Federal Court on September 19, 1997. On October 1, 1997 she opened her law practice and in September, 1998 she received her C.P.A. certificate.

Kathryn has enjoyed three very different careers, four if you start with summers working on the farm in her early years. In the medical field she moved from Nursing Assistant with High Point Hospital, then working with Guilford County Emergency Medical Services and moving up through the ranks from EMT to EMT-IV, to Paramedic, to Captain, and then management. She was state and nationally licensed as a Paramedic. Next in the accounting field she prepared taxes, assisted with the preparation of financial reports for a regional bank, and then in management with EMS while also working with a tax practice during tax season. The first two careers have helped to prepare her for her career as a lawyer and in managing the law practice.

Kathryn believes that education of clients is key to assisting them understand the complexity of their issues and then to use this knowledge to resolve their case. Her goal is to provide quality legal services to all her clients. The education also may help guide them in future life decisions. In most circumstances the best decision for a client is to resolve the case without a trial and we strive to resolve issues expeditiously to reduce the cost to our clients. When these efforts aren't successful we prepare our clients for court hearings and walk with them through the court process.

Kathryn is married and has two adult children. She lives in the Greensboro vicinity with her husband, one child, and a rescue cat. She enjoys sports cars, reading for pleasure, travel and the beach.
